Woodcock Johnson IV
The Woodcock Jonson IV (WJ IV)
Is used as the main assessment tool. The WJ IV is a comprehensive assessment tool that incorporates three batteries of tests:
Woodcock-Johnson IV (WJ IV) Tests of Cognitive Abilities, Australian Adaptation
Woodcock-Johnson IV (WJ IV) Tests of Oral Language, Australian Adaptation
Woodcock-Johnson IV (WJ IV) Tests of Achievement, Australian Adaptation
The WJ IV is used for a number of reason
It is evidence based with the design of the tests based on the Cattell-Horn-Carroll (CHC) theory of cognitive abilities.
The WJ IV’s diagnostic software provides information regarding tests discrepancies and variations providing statistical data relating to unexpected strength or weakness.
It is accepted by NZQA, Cambridge, Universities and other tertiary institutions as evidence for special accommodation conditions
The WJ IV has been standardised using combined Australian and New Zealand norming data.
The three batteries allow for targeted, but comprehensive testing, to identify patterns of strengths and weakness and diagnosis of a specific learning disability.
Age norms are provided for clients aged 2 – 90+ years however Jaaco recommends that assessment wait until the student is aged at least 6.5 years. Results can be more meaningfully interpreted when the student has had at least 1.5 years of formal schooling.
The three tests batteries are standardised on the same sample population, allowing direct comparison of tests and the identification of cross battery strengths and weaknesses.
It can also be used to identify gifted and talented learners.
Additional assessment tools are used when required.
